Zananke (‘Anky’) is a KWPN mare, she has also been graded into the Main Studbook of the Oldenburg Verband, which means that both KWPN and Oldenburg stallions can be used on her, and her foals will all get full KWPN or Oldenburg papers as applicable. She was imported from Holland as a 6 month old.
Anky's sire is the recently deceased International Grand Prix stallion Ferro (www.elitedressagestallions.co.uk/stallions-ferro.htm), who was Olympic Silver Medallist and Dressage World Cup Champion, and sire of many Champion and Grand Prix Stallions and Champion mares. Her dam is a Ster graded mare by Inspekteur, who was twice European Gold Medallist.
Anky is only 4 years old, and she has had one foal, Daisy. Anky will be going to the KWPN Mare Grading next autumn to be assessed for her Ster grading predicate.
Anky has just started to be backed and ridden, and is proving to be exceptionally well behaved. Having previously only been handled from the ground in a headcollar, when we came to back her, within 15 minutes she had a saddle and bridle on and was walking around our lawn with Mary sitting up in the saddle! She was not bothered by any of it at all, and was much more interested in whether Paul had any more treats in his pocket for her! Anky has a very kind, calm and willing temperament so again we are hoping she will progress well with her training.
