OUR HORSES
Our mares and foals live together in a herd in as natural an equine environment
as possible. They live out, grazing all year round with free access to large
field shelters, and they live without rugs to ensure that their growth and
movement is not restricted, and to allow them to develop their own coats
as a natural (and the most effective!) defence against the elements. The
foals benefit greatly from learning the social skills of being in a herd,
and the 24/7 free exercise and playing allows them the best start for strengthening
their muscles and tendons, and developing the athleticism and balance so
essential for modern dressage horses.
TUITION
Paul Taylor Johns is a BHS Riding Instructor, who teaches individual, shared
and group flatwork, jumping and cross-country lessons either at Holt Farm
or at other venues.
Paul also takes horses for schooling and training, either on a one-off,
short term or ongoing regular basis. Paul has trained horses ranging from
unbacked youngsters, to intermediate eventers, and to horses competing
at Prix St George.
As well as being an Instructor, Paul is a listed British Dressage judge,
and also competes himself at British Eventing Intermediate level.

Holt Farm has a 100 x 100m enclosed grass arena with full BSJA polyjump show jump course. The show jumping arena is available to hire by appointment.
LIVERY
Holt Farm very occasionally has livery vacancies. Please note we are an adult only yard, and do not provide DIY.
We have a unique system of livery which we believe works very well for owners. Each owner rents a stable, including turnout, storage, horsebox/trailer parking and use of all facilities for a fixed price each month.
In addition to this, we then provide livery on a daily basis, which can range from 4 days a week to 7 days a week. The daily livery is a fixed price per day and includes turnout and rug change, muck out, provision of hay, two feeds and water, bring in and rug change. The livery is designed to be flexible so that although owners will be on a normal routine of livery, this can be increased or decreased for holidays, illness etc as required.
Owners are responsible for buying their feed, hay, bedding, wormers, supplements etc, and for all other costs associated with their horse such as farrier, dentist and vet.
In addition to livery, owners can also have their horses lunged, schooled, hacked, clipped etc for an additional charge, and this can either be on a routine or one-off basis.
We currently do not charge for the use of floodlights in the school, or a handling fee for dealing with the farrier, dentist & vet attending your horse.
